KBRH Health Foundation Launches $2 Million “Mental Health Matters” Campaign

Trail, BC – The KBRH Health Foundation is proud to announce the launch of its most ambitious fundraising initiative to date, the $2 million Mental Health Matters campaign. This transformative effort aims to revitalize mental health services across the Kootenay Boundary region by funding critical upgrades to the Daly Pavilion, Harbour House, and the Pediatric Outdoor Space at KBRH.

Meeting a Growing Need
Every year, individuals and families across the Kootenay Boundary rely on KBRH’s mental health services. The Mental Health Matters campaign will address growing needs to create safer, trauma-informed spaces that promote healing with dignity and respect, while ensuring the safety and well-being of healthcare teams and patients.

“Mental health affects every aspect of our community. By supporting this campaign, we are investing in facilities and care environments that will reduce stigma and provide compassionate, patient-centred care for people of all ages,” said Lisa Pasin, Executive Director of the KBRH Health Foundation.

Campaign Goals and Impact
Funds raised through the campaign will:

  • Create safer, trauma-informed spaces for mental health care.
  • Support healthcare teams to deliver compassionate, patient-centred care.
  • Reduce the stigma surrounding mental health by building welcoming and therapeutic environments.
  • Improve care for vulnerable populations, including youth and individuals with complex mental health needs.

Specific upgrades include:

  • Renovating the Daly Pavilion, KBRH’s acute care psychiatric unit, aims to improve patient and staff safety, enhance patient comfort, and modernize the facility with specialized equipment and furniture for better mental health care.
  • Enhancing Harbour House, a residential rehabilitation facility, with new furniture, security systems, and therapeutic resources to support recovery and reintegration.
  • Develop a Pediatric Outdoor Space to provide a safe and secure, child-friendly area with recreational equipment and a designated family visiting zone.

Community Involvement
The Mental Health Matters campaign is a community-wide effort. Donations of all sizes will contribute to creating a brighter future for those struggling with mental health challenges. Donors contributing over $500 will be recognized on a new Mental Health Matters donor wall, along with additional opportunities for media and public acknowledgement.
