For more than a decade, Cindy Belleperche has dedicated her career to supporting patients at Daly Pavilion, the only inpatient psychiatric unit serving the entire Kootenay Boundary region. As a Registered Psychiatric Nurse (RPN) at KBRH, Cindy provides compassionate care to individuals facing some of the most challenging moments of their lives.
Her passion for mental health care was driven by a deep desire to help those who are too often overlooked or stigmatized. “One small kind act can be the difference in their lives that changes everything,” she shares.
Cindy’s role goes beyond medical treatment—it’s about human connection. She has held patients’ hands as they come to terms with life-altering diagnoses, de-escalated crises, and been a compassionate voice when no one else would listen. “Sometimes we are the only kind person our patients will encounter in their lives,” she explains.
The Mental Health Matters Campaign is deeply personal to Cindy. Daly Pavilion has not seen major renovations since its opening, yet it serves a critical role in mental health care for our region.
“Mental health can’t be fixed with a Band-Aid, and neither can this unit,” Cindy says.
From modernized beds and furniture to upgraded security systems, Cindy sees firsthand the urgent need for facility improvements. “An upgrade to the security system would make my job safer for me and the patients,” she notes.
For Cindy, this campaign represents more than just physical updates—it’s about ensuring that mental health care is treated with the same priority and dignity as any other form of health care.
“Our patients deserve the same level of care you would expect for yourself. Let’s show them that their well-being matters just as much as anyone else’s.”
Daly Pavilion’s patients don’t ask for much, but they deserve a space that promotes healing, dignity, and safety—just like any other department in a regional hospital. With your support, we can create a modern, comfortable, and safe environment where patients receive the quality of care they need.
When Cindy isn’t advocating for her patients, she enjoys walking her Dalmatian puppy, Dottie, cheering on her son as he rides dirt bikes, and watching her daughter take to the skies with the Trail Air Cadets—a reminder that, with the right support, anyone can soar.
