A Criticool machine has been purchased through your donations for the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at KBRH. Lisa, an RN shows us the new machine, which plays a crucial role in providing specialized care for infants, particularly those who have experienced a lack of oxygen during labour and delivery. The Criticool system involves the use of cooling pads or blankets that are placed around the baby. These pads are equipped with tubes through which a temperature-controlled liquid circulates. This serves the important function of regulating infant temperature, which is essential for neurological protection and offers a therapeutic approach to support the baby’s recovery.
