Helen, the Simulation Knowledge Coordinator at KBRH, is excited to share the newly acquired LUCAS device, purchased through your donations. This external chest compression device is designed to replace a person during CPR, improving the quality of compressions, allowing continuous compressions during transport, and reducing fatigue and muscular strain on healthcare providers. They are invaluable in low human resource settings, freeing up healthcare providers to perform other critical tasks. This unit is a training device to support KBRH healthcare staff in becoming more familiar with its use and maximizing patient benefits. It will be used in ACLS and BLS courses, during Mock Code Blue sessions, during outreach simulation sessions and for staff education. Thank you for your support in enhancing our training and patient care capabilities in the Kootenay Boundary.
