SonoSite Ultrasound and Sherlock 3CG with Surface Pro

Carla, a RN, displays the SonoSite Ultrasound and Sherlock 3CG with Surface Pro that the Foundation purchased for the Ambulatory Care Department with your donations. This specialized Ultrasound is used during insertion of a PICC line, which is a long, thin flexible tube that’s inserted through a vein in your upper arm by a specialty trained nurse or doctor. The PICC guidewire has a magnetic tip that the Sherlock sensor can track and ECG technology that can confirm proper positioning.
Carla tells us this is her favourite new equipment because it gives her a clear view of what’s happening inside the patient while she inserts the PICC line. It also saves her patients from exposure to radiation as they no longer require an x-ray to confirm proper placement. This also frees up the time of x-ray staff, including radiologists, as well as porters and other support staff.
