Trail, BC – The KBRH Health Foundation, in partnership with The Josie Hotel, is proud to announce the resounding success of the 2025 Perfectly Paired Chef’s Collaboration Fundraiser. This special culinary event, held on Saturday, March 8 raised an outstanding $80,000 in support of the newly launched Mental Health Matters campaign.
Bringing together top-tier culinary expertise, the evening featured an exclusive dining experience crafted by Celebrity Chef Bruno Feldeisen and Velvet Restaurant & Lounge Executive Chef Kenneth Dia and Sous Chef Brenden O’Farrell. Guests enjoyed a meticulously curated multi-course menu, perfectly paired with premium wines from Tantalus Vineyard all in support of revitalizing mental health care in the region.
The evening also included inspiring speeches from Dr. Claire Fantus, Head of Psychiatry at KBRH and Dr. Matthew Halstead, Mental Health Substance Use Physician, who highlighted the importance of mental health services and the profound impact this initiative will have on the community.
“The Josie Hotel and The Velvet Restaurant & Lounge are honoured to support the KBRH Health Foundation and their critical initiatives,” said Robert Murray, General Manager of The Josie Hotel. “Mental health is a growing priority in our community, and we are incredibly proud to contribute to this important cause through such a meaningful event.”
The Mental Health Matters campaign is dedicated to improving mental health facilities and services at Kootenay Boundary Regional Hospital (KBRH), ensuring individuals in the region receive the care and support they need. This was the Foundation’s first fundraiser for the campaign, and the overwhelming generosity of attendees, sponsors, and donors set a strong foundation for future fundraising and campaign success.
In addition to the exquisite dining experience, the event featured a highly successful silent auction, generously supported by local businesses, artisans, and donors. Items ranged from handcrafted jewellery and artwork to exclusive experiences and getaway packages, all contributing to the incredible fundraising total.
“We are incredibly grateful for the community’s unwavering support,” said Lisa Pasin, Executive Director of the KBRH Health Foundation. “The success of Perfectly Paired not only highlights the generosity of our supporters but also reinforces the urgent need for enhanced mental health access in our region. We are excited to continue this momentum as we work to make a lasting impact on mental health care in the Kootenay Boundary region.”
Proceeds from the event will directly support the Mental Health Matters campaign, funding essential upgrades, modernized equipment, resources and programs that improve mental health care at KBRH.
