Sensory Equipment

Thanks to a generous TELUS Future Friendly grant, the Pediatric Department at KBRH now has a range of sensory equipment designed to create a calming and engaging environment for young patients.

These new tools—including a bubble tube wall, light and sound projectors, a piano mat, and other interactive elements—offer distraction, entertainment, and opportunities for movement within the limited space of a hospital room. They support emotional regulation, reduce anxiety, and help make hospital stays less stressful for children and youth.

Kailee Waterstreet, Manager of Clinical Operations for KBRH Maternal Child, NICU, and ICU, and Amanda, Registered Nurse, and proudly show us some of the new additions.

This investment helps us deliver more compassionate care to our youngest patients—especially those with anxiety or sensory sensitivities.
